Todmorden Road showing the old toll house which was sold off in 1881 when the tolls were removed. This area was known as Bacup Fold and it was in this area that the towns lock-up was situated. On the right is the area known as Hammerton Green.

 

 

The Kozy cinema replaced by the Regal Cinema previous to being known as the Kozt it was known as the Gem picture palace. The Regal Super Cinema    Opened on September 7th 1931 with seating for 900 people the Cinema closed in September 1958 later opening as a Bingo Hall

Curve Street was situated behind the houses that fronted onto Newchurch Road, pictured above the eight houses numbered 2 - 16  of Curve Street and those of 291 - 295 of Newchurch Road were all demolished in 1979. Ross mill chimney and the last part of the mill still standing. One can judge the height of the water tower in relation to the crane with drop ball. The water tower and steps were demolished by the drop ball on June 11th 1982. By October 16th 1982 the only thing left fully standing was the chimney. Today the area is home to the new St Saviours school.
